CARIBBEAN NET NEWS: Four Trinidadian and Guyanese men are set to go on trial next year for conspiring to blow up fuel lines at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport.

According to one of the defence attorneys, Kafahni Nkrumah, a lot still has to be achieved before the judge can start the case.

Nkrumah, who is representing Guyanese former PNC Parliamentarian and regional councillor, Abdul Kadir, claimed the prosecution had not made full disclosure in the case during last week’s status hearing

CARIBBEAN NET NEWS: Father of Nikki Blonsky was released on $3000 bail in the TCI as he awaits his trial on assault charges set for later in August.

However, Blonsky was required to surrender his travel documents and must remain in the TCI until his trial. A judge had initially denied bail on the felony charges, reportedly because Blonsky, as a foreigner, was considered a flight risk.

CANANEWS: Belize hopes to hold a referendum to discuss and gain closure on disputes over the Belize-Guatemala border

[Belize's Foreign Minister Wilfred] Elrington said the referendum could only be held after the Belize and Guatemalan parliaments pass the necessary resolution giving approval for it.
