International news source Al Jazeera has released a series that looks back on the last 60 years of conflict between Israel and Palestine, examining “How the state of Israel Came to Be” and outlining the past 60 years in a three-part-series on youtube. Here’s a link to Part 1.
In an article titled, “Losing Palestine,” Al Jazeera reporters interview “Middle Eastern Youths” about the founding of Israel.
One Interviewee, Hadeel Alaini, a Yemeni teacher in Egypt says:
It is heartbreaking to see rich Arab countries competing in building the biggest malls, tallest buildings, and largest conference centres when Palestinians and Iraqis are dying. Perhaps that is why we are too busy for Arab nationalism.
Another, Almuhannad Al-Hammadi a government employee in Qatar says:
The fact that Palestine is still under Israeli occupation points to how weak so-called Arab solidarity really is.
