Authorities received an alert about 5 a.m. ET Sunday of people stranded and screaming in the water 15 miles northwest of Nassau, Bahamas, the Coast Guard said.

Al Jazeera: Armed Somali Pirates Hold 26 Fishermen from Spain for Ransom
On Monday morning, the pirates demanded money for the crew’s release after boarding the tuna fishing boat on Sunday.
Speaking on a Spanish radio station, one of the pirates said they wanted “money” after taking the telephone from the boat’s captain who had been contacted on board.
