Al Gore to Speak at Environmental Conference


Former Vice President of the United States, Al Gore will visit Providenciales in Mid-November to speak at the Fostering a Green Culture conference, announced Minister of Natural Resources Hon. McAllister Hanchell at a recent press conference.

The conference invited the Nobel Peace Prize recipient and major campaigner for a heightened consciousness of climate change as the culmination for this the Year of the Environment in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

We are very delighted to have former Vice President of the United States of America, Al Gore, to be our special guest speaker, whom will be speaking to us on climate change” the Hon. Minister Hanchell said.

The Fostering a Green Culture conference aims to bring together influential members of local, regional and international governments (US) to discuss current environmental matters like Nature and the Economy—the Delicate Balance and Protected Areas—A model for Maintaining Sustainable Livelihoods in a Tourism Based Economy.

The Objective of this conference is to bring together heads of state, leaders to raise the environmental consciousness… [and] to be able to have panel discussions to see what we’re doing in prospective countries to see how we can collaborate and perhaps share information,” Hon. Hanchell said.

Beaches—the only green certified resort in Providenciales—will host the Fostering a Green Culture conference,organized by The Ministry of Natural Resources, The Ocean Conservancy, and The National Coral Reef Institute, from 18 November to 20 November.
